The Nevada STD Prevention and Control Program is responsible for the control and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) within the state of Nevada.
The section assists state, local and community efforts with interrupting the transmission of chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis and other STDs, and reducing the health burden and costs associated with these infections.
Primary activities of STD Prevention and Control include testing and treatment of chlamydia, syphilis and gonorrhea (reportable STDs); surveillance of reportable STDs; providing opportunities for statewide STD stakeholder planning and goal development input; locating and treating contacts of known cases with an STD and providing risk reduction education and material.
